Also — I, Portia Rossini, will take over the world someday. Hence my Pinky and the Brain video. Aren’t they charming? *giggles* I’ve noticed from my blog stat counters that many visitors have gone into my website. I would like to thank ALL for visiting. To write my rants and having people read it and see it as more than a rant is so comforting. I don’t sound as crazy as I should *winks*.

Now here’s my question of the day, do you obsessively look at your counter statistics? (Come on, admit it!)

Honestly all the renderosity Danae Kotsi vs second life Minnu Palen has gotten me a little bit stressed out. Not because I am for anyone side’s but…

I am just losing sleep over the fact that everything seems to be so jumbled up for me. Who did what? What did what? Did she buy this? Did she read the EULA? *gets some of Strawberry’s meds*

Sometimes I wish I’ve never entered the world of Second Life. The amount of drama and headaches are tremendous. From the RC viewers being unstable to trademarking everything to making do with the lag to .. EVERYTHING.

If there’s one thing second life never lacks is action.

I swear, the second life website should have had a warning tag:

WARNING! WARNING! What you’re about to download to play is completely headache-ridden, mind-boggling and completely insane. It is not for the faint of heart!

Crap, everything that induces the kind of stress Second Life brings out should have a warning tag just like that. That would be nice, that would be wonderful!

So now I’ve told you my rant of the day, let me ask you: do you regret every entering the world of second life? Why or Why not?

Alright. Let me start this entry once again.

Being in Second Life, I’ve noticed a very very strange trend. There is truly a huge six degrees of separation in the social circles of second life. You probably don’t know me, but I am sure I know you or heard of you. Now let me explain (poor poor Willow!)..

Second Life is a game platform that many users go into to socialize, make businesses and start relationships. Ever since I’ve rezzed into Second Life, I’ve noticed that SL gets about 30,000 to 50,000+ users logged in at any given time.

So why is that we all revolve around many of the same people? Is it a major coincidence or am I just completely paranoid?

I actually don’t know what is up. I just looked at my friends list and I compared it to who my friends know or are friends with. And I can safely say ” (insert name of friend), I know your friend (insert your friend’s friend’s name)”. And chances are, my friend’s friend knows a friend of mine who possibly knows, has met or has chatted or has visited my blog.

Does that mean then that we all revolve around the same groups of people? Do we LIMIT our social spheres by minimizing how tiny those said spheres are?

For example (yes, I’ll be naming names):

I know Rachelle Cortes who knows Steve Hansen who is friends with Ana Lutetia who was my neighbour a year ago in the Broadway South sim.

Another example:

I know Annette Voight who knows Elysium Eilde whom I’ve met in flickr before I met Annette Voight.

Is this all a damn coincidence or is this just really scary?

Do I know you? I probably do. Now what do I mean?

Second life is a damn small world. Everyone you meet knows someone else that you probably already KNOW, if not, they know someone that you know that they know that you know. Confused enough?

Now, I’ve been around Second Life for a very very long time. I think that I’ve seen, talked, chatted and met a lot of people. My list is not extensive but I have to say, the cycle really does happen.

I won’t go through a whole crapload of details on who I know, but I do want to let you know about WHAT I know.

Is second life just too small of a world? I think so, I mean this is a damn rant but if I know you, and you know me, and you know my friends who are friends with YOUR friends.. who know me, wouldn’t that justmean that second life is one huge spherical confusion?

Style sheets and blurp after the bump!

Julia actually dropped me this outfit a few weeks ago. I didn’t have time to blog about it at all, and I thought that maybe it’s time to do so. It’s so nice outside now, it’s just the perfect time to whip out those capris and halter tops and get ready for the summer.

What I like right now is the white combined with color. It’s actually a trend right now in RL fashion. I couldn’t resist pairing it up with the bangles from +plus. That’s one great store for accessories and the Socialite shades from Vintage Wear.

You should really go and seek out those dollarbies from +plus. They are WONDERFUL!

One of the many glitches of the new main viewer right now is the disappearing skirt act. I don’t know about you, but losing your skirt in a very well known store with many onlookers is not funny.

And here’s why..

Do you know that losing your skirt is embarassing? I know you know that, crap I think even an idiot knows that but you don’t completely get it until it happens to you. It’s like your worse nightmare come to life, just substitute the teacher for the owner of this wonderful shop that you stepped into skirtless, and substitute the class for a multitude of shopping crazy SL-aholics.

Is it the male Lindens playing a cruel joke on the ladies? I could imagine it going like this…

Linden Male 1: *snort* It would be so funny to go around looking up girl’s skirts!
Linden Male 2: *laughs* We can see their… thing *goes teary-eyed in fantasy*
Linden Male 3: Shit, you are all idiots.
Linden Male 2: Do you have a better idea?
Linden Male 3: Yes, unlike you two I actually like my work here at linden labs, that is why I am creating a bug that makes system skirts disappear!
Linden Male 1: Shit man, that’s damn awesome
Linden Male 3: I’m the MANNNN!!!! *pumps air in the fist and does the hump dance*

And that’s what I think. Don’t agree with it, comment and insult me. *laughs*

I was touring around a store in-world the day before and I tp over Miss Thema Felix of The Virtual Version. She cracks me up (no pun intended, honestly!). And she has made me a total crack addict…

Now if this is a complete mystery to you, I completely understand. I also did not get what she meant at first, but I am totally converted and here’s why…

And then I started thinking, do you think cracks are hot or not? I think they are part of your avatar’s body, why hide it? Why do you have to hide a part of your body to make it all decent and better? I think that in second life, you are free to do what you want, when you want. And there should not be a stop to what you can do in your own second life.

I think there are lines to be drawn, and arrows to be made as to the direction of this. I just think that if one person wants to show her crack, why is she not free to do so? So be the damned crack addict you are, SHOW YOUR CRACK WITH PRIDE!

I actually came in SL trying to get a bunch of SLurls and style sheets for the upcoming entry I was doing for SCD. I actually didn’t expect that Anessa Stine would tp me to a lucky chair. And I absolutely fell in love with this hat. I knew I had to pair it up with something. The whole outfit, except for the necklace and shoes are from Aoharu and it is absolutely delicious.

It is a delicious concoction of a mint cherry hat and a color matching dress. I also paired it up with a pair of Shiny Thing’s new shoes, Brandy. It’s adorable and great for a spring dress like the Tyrolean Stripe Dress! So what are you waiting for? Go to Aohoru.

I know what you are thinking, what the hell is this girl smoking? Being ruthed is not sexy, it’s awful, disgusting, gross and unstylish. Well let me tell you, it is sexy.

And here are my reasons why…

Every since I’ve been in Second Life, being ruth is something completely undesirable  because you will have the stupid body, the linden hair and godawful big feet that just go through your delicate size 0 shoes. But let’s think about it, that’s where we all come from.

Being ruth is like being part of nature (SL nature), and who are we to say that being au naturelle is such a bad thing?

In light of the recent screw ups in-world, I’ve realized that you will be ruthed no matter how you go about things. There will be times when you can’t see yourself ruth and you hear from someone else that you are, so.. what does that tell you? To shy away from your beginnings or embrace it?

There are de-ruthers out there. Tons actually, I am guessing it’s really big business somewhere in the SL world. But if we are all ruth, what is the whole point of de-ruthing? Or are we all just superficial avatars who want to be as good looking as we can all the time, all the way?

Now here is my reasons while I might not LIKE being ruthed, it isn’t exactly a bad thing:

1. Being ruth makes you stand out in the crowd. More unique = more attention
(because I am such an attention whore *rolls eyes*)
2. Seeing someone ruth lets you reminisce on your newbie days when you had that linden hair and ginormous feet and go all googly eye about how hawt you were (yes hawt, not hot. DO NOT CORRECT ME!)
3. Shit. If I was ruth and I can’t do anything about it, why not embrace it? If you hate it, people will just see you hate it and laugh at you even more. Embracing it makes you more funnier, more sociable and absolutely charming (even with the linden hair)

As I am writing this, it’ll be almost 12 midnight. My usual time to write a blog entry for the next day. I’ve decided to go a little dominatrix hair with vamp top and curvy hips. Reminds me a little of Alias with Jennifer Garner.

As everyone knows (at least those who are insane enough to want to read my writings), I’ve worn blowpop for a while now, ever since I’ve gotten them from Annyka. It’s like love at first sight except skins don’t have eyes. My second fashion love is A-line skirts, especially A-line skirts from Ingenue — the textures, the creases, the vamp-yness, I go giddy with joy. I love the lace work on the Juju’s Closet release of Twins, it really does show your ‘twins’ *winks*

And then I took the outfit in a different direction and went with a scarf from Relika. When I saw the purple, there was no way I would pass up wearing my all-time favorite pumps from Maitreya and lastly the anklet. It’s charming with a touch of vamp, who doesn’t want that?

As everyone knows Laqroki is the new brand name of the former skin store, RaC (aka Raspberry and Cow). I’ve then wondered what makes SL content designers tick when it comes to the decision of rebranding. Here’s my thought on the subject…

For the sake of not being sued, shouted at, cursed at or being sent a cease and desist letter, I’ve decided to change names of the aforementioned victims characters.

Customer: Hey.
Callory Mowen: Hey.
Customer: What’s up?
Callory Mowen: Nothing much,  you?
Customer: Same. RaC is a stupid name.
Callory Mowen: I know, I was thinking of it while eating cows.
Customer: You mean beef, right?
Callory Mowen: No, I mean cows.
Customer: Uhh.. okay. Then what was the raspberry for?
Callory Mowen: That was just random, I dream of monster raspberries chasing down cows while I was drooling on my keyboard.
Customer: That’s gross.
Callory Mowen: I know, people love it though. I crack up everytime someone says RaC, it sounds like boobies.
Customer: Shit man, you’re perverted.
Callory Mowen: No one has to know!
Customer: Alright… are you changing the name?
Callory Mowen: Uh, why? I like Rack. I meant RaC.
Customer: How about something elegant?
Callory Mowen: Something french?
Customer: No, what about something french?
Callory Mowen: Femme sophistiqué.
Customer: I can’t pronounce that, how about Laqroki?
Callory Mowen: What’s that?
Customer: I don’t know, it’s stupid like RaC.
Callory Mowen: Okie, Laqroki it is.

I am sure that’s not how Mallory Cowen thought it up,  but since she won’t release a statement as to her reasons for a name change, I thought to do it for her Callory Mowen. Don’t sue me!
